  • l let students have a basic understanding of the Catholic faith, imitate the spirit of Christ's fraternity and service, and love the Lord and others in their lives.

2. Objectives

  • l Would be able to be their ‘true’ selves through prayer and meditation

3. Course features

  • l The religious education curriculum is one of the school-based through-train curriculum of our school. The teaching content and related activities are arranged as a spiral curriculum, from Primary One to Secondary Six, so that students can understand the Catholic faith and cultivate their spiritual development
  • l The textbook is compiled by RME Curriculum Development Center under the Hong Kong Catholic Education Office. This book series focuses on developing personality traits, values and attitudes. Each value is repeated in a spiral along one’s childhood and adolescence, It is deepened and extended step by step according to students’ growth and abilities.
  • l According to the suggestions of the RME, we have adopted the Emmaus teaching pedagogy, which aims to make good use of students' life experience, thus guiding them to reflect, and refer to the experience and values of Christians to re-examine and change their beliefs and behaviors.
  • l In addition to values, our school's religion curriculum also focuses on cultivating students' self-management ability. Through contemplation, meditation and prayer in the class, students can better understand their physical and mental states, and be able to handle different states appropriately.
  • l Through flexible and diversified classroom activities, assignments and cross-subjects cooperation (such as Chinese, English, GE and VA), to guide students to realize the connection between faith and life.
  • l To cater for different learning needs, students of other religious backgrounds can make corresponding arrangements in religious classroom activities and assignments due to different religious beliefs.

4. Resources

  • l There is a "prayer corner" in every classroom for students to pray at and to share their prayer intentions. It is decorated according to the church’s liturgy calendar throughout.
  • l There is another corner named "Little Flock" for teachers to share students' prayer intentions, good works and subject information.
  • l There are different religious facilities around the campus, such as the prayer room, the icon paintings on the fourth floor, the Heavenly Garden and the statues of Jesus, the Virgin Mary and St. Joseph. These facilities are not only for teachers to carry out religious-related activities, but also set up for one’s relaxation or mindfulness.
